First, we have lots of new readers, so welcome.

Second, I let matt’s notes slip for several weeks—but we’re so back.

01. creating

I partnered with the lovely Helen Min on a blog—Developer Marketing in the age of AI. If your interested in how I speak to devs, this one is for you.

Vibe Coding with Replit, DataCamp

We also shipped Vibe Coding on Replit—a partnership between Replit + DataCamp. This is a follow-up to the successful Vibe Coding 101 with DeepLearning.

02. learning

  • xmcp: a typescript framework for building + deploying MCP servers fast. It’s a seriously cool project with a nice homepage

  • FastMCP: the python equivalent of the above 😂

  • Moom: a pretty cool tiling window manager for Mac

Next week, I’ll have some notes to share about my audio setup 😎

03. thinking

Barbell theory (Taleb, not lifting… but I like that too) can be applied to many things

I apply it to things I do everyday

We can spend time doing things we love. We can also spend time doing things we hate

Somewhere in the middle are things we’re apathetic about

Stick to the ends (love / hate), avoid the middle (apathy)

If I’m doing something I love, I’m happy. If I’m doing something I hate, I’m getting signal:

  • Something I don’t want to do, but needs to be done

  • Something to eliminate (so I’m doing more of what I love)

  • Something about my current routines—maybe I should focus my life in a different direction?

  • Something that’s genuinely good, but has an acquired taste

The key being: strong emotion is a forcing function for action.

Apathy is unmotivating and the easiest way to end up in the same place for longer than you should be

Find things you love, find things you hate
