01. building
A few ships last week—first, an interview with James Austin of Replit. This has been a part of a series interviewing the Replit team. Had lots of fun with this one and James is a blast!
I also shipped Episode 2 of my biggest project yet: building a strength app from scratch:
This has been super fun & I’m learning a ton along the way!
02. learning
Tanstack Start: A fullstack framework for React apps, from the creator of Tanstack. Super early, but I did some exploration this week for the project above and it seems promising
21 lessons from 14 years at Google: A great engineering blog from Addy Osmani, a (former) engineer at Google
Seeing Theory: A beautiful site for visually learning probability concepts from Brown
03. thinking
“I'm pretty sure I'm part of the reason why everybody tries to get a logo…But the thing is, that brand was established based on what I did on the basketball court. I didn't put the brand before I put the work.” —Michael Jordan
It’s common to see a “top-down” approach to content: the assumption that people should intrinsically care about who you are or what you’re sharing.
More rare is a “bottom-up” approach: creating value through useful content and letting people discover that on their own.
One of these is great for driving meaningful progress and helping others. The other is not. Start with creating value and doing the work and the rest will follow.
